Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. This was a poster to celebrate the Millennium of Aviation. It is truly awesome to realize how far the art of flying machines has come in one hundred years, not only the amazing technology but also the ability of humans to control and pilot this technology.
I used a water based gauche and colored pencil to create a visual story line with a loose casual feeling to help induce a human touch to the overall image. I now wonder what style of artwork one will use to adequately convey the next one hundred years of flying technology.
