Description
Another reason to paint French Landscapes. The french Mediterranean landscape of Provence has fragrant flowers, lavender fields and mountain vistas. A joy for traveler to photograh or experience. Lavender or Lanvedula angustifolia as it is also called, come from the latin word lavare which means to wash. It's fragrance has been used for centuries as perfume and is a key component in many soaps. Places like the town of Grass in the south of France are famous for their fragrance industry, when driving through the area one can smell the various compounds that are used to make some of the world's best perfumes.

Thanks Lori & Bob, if you ever get a chance to make it to France and Provence, it seems to be in full bloom early in July.
