Description
In 1992 America celebrated 500 years since an Italian, Christopher Columbus, discovered the new world in 1492. To celebrate this occasion, Italy sent their Italian Aerobatic Team the Frecce Tricolori ( Tri Colour Arrows) on a North American air show tour. The air crafts where the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN a two seat fighter-trainer capable of breaking the sound barrier at sea level.
I was privileged to be asked to do the artwork for for one of the largest North American air shows of the day, featuring this impressive team's aerobatics and their red, white, green smoke trail trademark. I added the traditional WWII planes and the then brand new stealth F-117A Nighthawk which did some impressive fly-bys. All told, the show was a huge success and the team went on to impress a number of additional air show enthusiasts.
The poster quickly became a collector' item.
