Description
Tuscany is a region in central Italy ranging roughly from north of Rome to Florence which is the regional capital. Bordering west as far as the Meditrranean, Chianti is it's north region and mainly a wine growing area the rest is located south from Sienna to Val 'd Orcia where most of the wheat is grown.
This landscape painting is typical of the imediate hills around Sienna. It is difficult to paint this region and adequately convey the Tuscan landscape in just a single picture, most of the regions is a series of rolling hills with a background of what can be called mountains looming in the distance. I chose to paint this scene in a long horizontal format hoping to convay better what I felt when I visited this wonderfull part of my Italian experience near this historic city.
