Artist's Description

Mediterranean sunlight has a unique ambiance that enhances the warm earthly colors the region is famous for. I wanted to create a scene which reminded me of the various wonderful streets and alleyways that I encountered on my trips to the Mediterranean region. Places where I wanted to walk down that street to see what the many little shops had to offer, perhaps stopping to have a cappuccino at a small street side cafe while continuing to explore hidden delights. I am always interested in the history of any of these old world places, to imagine that the ancient Romans once walked the streets is fascinating but above all I like the character of the architecture and culture of this region's landscape.
Living in a northern climate I am sure has a lot to do with this feeling, here the colors aren't as direct or vibrant and winter tends to create an overall greyness to my world but every now and then I create these images of warmer climates to see me through the long winters nights and...
