Artist's Description

This scene is of the well known Gazebo overlooking the mouth of the Niagara River as it opens up into Lake Ontario at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
During the summer these park grounds are popular with tourists many of who bring the whole family and a profusion of picnic baskets to enjoy a day in the sun. Close by are world class wineries who's fruits of the vine have graced the palettes of wine lovers the world over and of course the one and only Niagara Falls. I was struck by the solitary image the gazebo projected during this foggy winter's day so I promptly returned to my studio to paint the scene before I lost the vision. I purposely painted the scene in simple monochromatic shades to emphasize its solitude.
